How "Offline-First" Works
Most modern POS systems are "Cloud-First," meaning they are essentially just web browsers. If your internet connection drops, you can't open the cash drawer, you can't print a receipt, and you can't process an order.
UCH is different. We built a robust, industrial-grade MongoDB database directly into the application that runs locally on your own computer.
- Local Processing: Every time you add an item to a bill, calculate taxes, or check inventory, it happens locally. This is why the app feels incredibly fast—there are no network requests delaying your actions.
- Zero Downtime: Unplug your ethernet cable. Turn off your WiFi router. The POS will continue to function flawlessly. You can run your entire restaurant for days without internet.
Data Syncing
While the app is highly capable offline, it is also smart enough to sync with the cloud when an internet connection is available.
When you are connected to the internet, the desktop app acts as a secure bridge, silently and securely pushing your daily sales metrics, inventory updates, and new menu items up to the UCH Cloud CRM Platform so you can view your restaurant's performance from your phone anywhere in the world.
Security Notice
Because your database lives locally, it is your responsibility to secure the physical computer running the software. Do not allow unauthorized personnel to access the desktop environment.
